Come Out Smokin' Joe Frazier The Champ Nobody Knew eBook Phil Pepe

A fairly easy read. Well researched, well written, and very informative. It includes insight into Joe Frazier, the boxer and the man. The book also provides a great deal of insight into the boxing world from the perspective of Joe, his managers, and trainer. It describes Joe's fights in good detail and describes Joe's boxing style very well for the average boxing fan. It does a good job explaining Joe's goals, what motivated him, and explaining how Joe became the heavyweight champion of the world. The book covers and explains the opposing camps, the public opinion, and captures the lead-up and controversy surrounding the first Frazier-Ali fight. As other reviewers may have mentioned, the book ends with Joe defeating Ali to unify the heavyweight crown. It was his first fight with Ali. An afterward of sorts that summarized the re-match fights with Ali and what ultimately became of Joe would have made it a better book.

truly an amazing story, the American dream come true. Hard work, dedication and true grit can take you anywhere. I recommend this to everyone working towards a dream.
We'll written , full of little known facts. A basically good man who never got the credit he sorely deserved.
Great book for all of those who love Boxing and the Heavyweight landscape in the 1970ts.

This book takes you only to the 1st fight with Ali, for me the best one, however if you are looking for more on Joe on the later stages of his boxing carrear, you wont find it here.
Very insightful as to the rise of a young and upcoming Joe Frazier. Explores some of the politics of boxing in the sixties. The book shows you how hard Joe Frazier worked to earn the heavyweight title and how great Ali was to come back after a three and half year layoff and was still push Frazier to the limit.
Truly awesome book about a truly awesome athlete! No one compares to Joe Frazier today, no one wants to put in the time or the energy it would take to do it! Thank you Mr. Frazier, you are greatly missed in the boxing world!
He was the real guy. I was a big supporter of Ali but Frazier was the real champ and gentleman. Ali was very proud of his beautiful face and degraded Joe ,why? Because he was the actual racist. Shame on NAACP for not supporting the real champ.
Any boxing aficionado that is familiar with the heavyweight division in the 60s and 70s is well acquainted with Joe Frazier, and just how great of a fighter he was. The greatest injustice done to him was by Ali, claiming that he was an uncle Tom was so far from the truth and degrading him by saying he looked like a gorilla another great atrocity Joe Frazier was a fine human being, and he deserves a lot better than he got from Ali and a lot of other people. Let me ask all you so-called boxing aficionados out there why there is a statue of Rocky outside of the museum in Philadelphia I mean Rocky is a fictional character should there be a statue somewhere in Philadelphia of Joe Frazier a real human being and a real heavyweight champion of the world. I hope a lot of younger people can use this book to learn a lesson about how some things just aren't as they appear the world was a better place because of the heavyweight champion by the name of Joe Frazier. Respectfully Johnny Irish
