The only way that I can characterize this book is to compare it to a cult classic like Plan 9 From Outer Space or The Toxic Avenger; a tale so unabashedly cheesy and/or just plain bad that it transcends mere awfulness and becomes avant-garde comedy.Once you figure out how to accept the near-parody Flash Gordon-ish (maybe even Flesh Gordon-ish; a parody of a parody) plot and dialogue, the bad double entendres and gawdawful wordplay on their own terms, this is a fun read. Our hero Dirk Moorcock flies the good ship Machismo (subtlety isn't exactly this book's strong suit) across galaxies on command of his Empress to liberate an oppressed people from an evil scientist. And battle space pirates, of course. And get laid by green-skinned three-breasted vixens. Of course.
It's difficult to criticize a book like this because most of the badness is intentional and part of the fun. One negative that does stand out is that the extent of the proofreading appears to have been a single pass with a spell-checker. The text is rife with homophonic typos such as "pail" where "pale" was intended, "corps" instead of "corpse;" several such miscues per page at times. I also encountered what I'm pretty sure was a duplicated paragraph early in the story. The overall effect is to make what was intended to be self-conscious cheesiness appear simply amateurish. "Seka Heartley" (who is NOT the same person as Clayton J. Callahan! They're two different people! Don't ever forget that!) would benefit from working with a good human editor.
Bottom line: It was *just* bad/good enough to where I'll probably check out another of Heartley / Callahan's works. With writing like this It is entirely too easy to let it degenerate into formula, thence into boredom. Hopefully, H / C managed to avoid this trap. Here and now, however, four stars.

Passion Pirates Of The Lost Galaxy An Adult Adventure Dirk Moorcock Book 1 edition by Seka Heartley Clayton J Callahan Adam Jolly Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
An intriguing and incredible fantastic adventure to read. Get it now, don't wait. I Loved it!!! You will too. But it today.
This colorful adult, zany romp is generously sprinkled with an amorous cast of interesting characters. The plot spoofs Sci-Fi in a lovable pun-filled universe, which is inhabited by a musclebound hero, a string of shapely and scantily-clad women, (who are, for the most part, way smarter than he is) and by a variety of evildoers.
It's a short, quick read to fire-up the imagination, whether on the beach or on a dark, cold, cloudy day it should make you groan at the puns, and root for the graphic novel style protagonist.
Wowzers! It's like Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon space adventures but with less fade to black and a lot of nods to the other great storytellers in this genre. It was like cotton candy at the fair, a pubescent fantasy spun with humorous self-reflection, a delightful romp through a galaxy I wouldn't mind imagining again. I devoured it in two great gulps of reading, I couldn't put it down, save to nourish my need for food. If you crave a future brightly lit by laser pistols against the best mustache-twirler in the quadrant...

Childish story line and comic book characters
This reminds me of Flash Gordon with wishful thinking of scantily clad hotties with three tits and no morals. It was fun but poorly edited. Better editing would improve this author.
Just mindless silliness. Worth a read when I am in the mood for wordplay and double-entedre. The book makes no attempt to be highbrow and does so deliberately.
If you're getting tired of hero saves the world and looking for a break, something lighter; Here it is. It's light reading with a comical hero and semi bad puns and names. Lots of action and adult romance (sort of). And the hero saves the day, mostly by accident.
